Ravindra Salve #Biography
Artist Ravindra Salve was born in a small village called Shrirampur on 20th June 1957. The village is situated on the way between Shirdi Sai Baba and Shani Shingnapur. The people and the land itself are an exemplary form of innocence and devotion. Salve has similar traits, his precious trait lies in being humble. During his childhood, Salve’s house stood like an art institute. There was every freedom to write, sing, dance or paint. Elders in his family looked up at art with reverence, believing that every form of art is resourceful. The children in the house imbibed from what they saw around them or what they were taught in certain ways to be respectful towards art, culture and entertainment.
While his mother sat in the angan, the open courtyard every morning to draw rangoli, Salve sat obediently next to her and watched those designs. It was these morning sessions of quiet sitting that attracted him and unknowingly cultivating his interest in drawing and colours. Those were days of creative play for the little Salve. In spite of facing some inhibition from his father for pursuing his art further, Salve decided to follow what his heart asked him to do. He took admission in Diploma in Fine Arts at Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune in the year 1976.
